: This manuscript is based on the methodological learning captured by authors when undertaking a rapid prioritisation exercise to prioritise potential adult social care and social work innovations for future research evaluation. The James Lind Alliance methodology that we adapted is centred on public and patient involvement in priority setting. Those taking part in the workshops were not research participants. Thus we felt that formal ethical approval was not necessary. This was also indicated by the HRA decision-support tool (ExternalRef removed). However, stakeholders and workshop participants agreed to participate in the workshop and provided consent for how their data was going to be used.
: Not applicable.
: KC works as an independent facilitator in a consultancy capacity with the JLA supporting the secretariat and facilitating Priority Setting Partnerships. The authors declare that there are no other conflicts of interest.
