Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Patients were informed about the study in writing as well as verbally, and only included when they provided written consent for their participation. Patients were informed that they could withdraw from the study at any time and with no implications for their future treatment. Those who left the study for other reasons than death where kindly asked for permission to use their previous data.Furthermore the study was approved by the Chief Executives at Nordsjællands Hospitals’ Department of Pulmonary and Infectious Diseases in Denmark. The Ethics Committee (ExternalRef removed) in Denmark, the Biomedical Research Ethics Committee System Act was questioned, and they decided that the study was not required to report (H-17001509). All patients’ data were handled and stored in accordance with the Danish Data Protection Agency (05204, NOH-2017-001).
