: The FinnGeDi study includes two study arms: register-based and clinical genetic arms. The whole FinnGeDi study protocol was approved by the Regional Ethics Committee in Northern Ostrobothnia Hospital District and the Work group of Research Ethics at THL Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare. The data of register-based arm of this study is based on Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare administered registers and the use of this data was approved by THL, which waived the need for informed consent. According to Finnish legislation, a register study does not require permission or informed consent from the study participants when participants are not contacted for the study. In this particular study participants were not contacted for the study. We confirm that all methods were carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations.
