Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Haramaya University Research Grant Review Committee (HURGRC) reviewed the proposal according to the rules and regulation of Research Affairs Office of the University and approved the proposal accordingly with a grant code of HURG-2014-01-01. The committee approved to perform the work as per the merits and guidelines of the University. Verbal consent was obtained from cattle owners for inclusion of their cattle in the study and also for interviewing the owners in public health awareness assessments. The cattle owners were informed about the purpose of the study, risks and benefits in accordance to the level of their understanding in order to provide complete information including duration of study and tests to be conducted from the cattle. All participants were clearly informed verbally that participation in the study was totally voluntary; they have full right to withdraw or refuse to participate in the study at any time they want. Confidentiality of the data obtained was strictly followed in the study periods as well as they were told that the data is not to be used for any other purpose that was not intention of the study.
